Course Overview

The Electrical Installation (Electrical Wireman) program is a competency-based vocational course examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The program is designed to equip trainees with the practical skills, technical knowledge, and safety practices required for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments.

The training combines classroom instruction with extensive hands-on workshop practice, enabling trainees to develop competence in electrical wiring, cable installation, conduit and trunking systems, lighting circuits, socket outlets, distribution boards, earthing and bonding, electrical measurements, testing, and fault diagnosis. Learners are also introduced to electrical drawings, electrical regulations, workplace safety, and entrepreneurship skills relevant to the electrical industry.

The course is offered progressively through NITA Grade III, Grade II, and Grade I levels, allowing trainees to advance their skills from basic domestic wiring to more complex electrical installations and maintenance work. Upon successful completion, graduates can pursue careers as electrical wiremen, installation electricians, maintenance technicians, construction electricians, solar installation technicians, or establish self-employment ventures in the electrical services sector.

The program aims to produce competent and safety-conscious artisans capable of meeting the growing demand for skilled electrical personnel in Kenya's construction, manufacturing, energy, and service industries.
